Grant Mullen

Robert "Grant" Mullen, 73, departed this life to his eternal home on Monday, September 26, 2016 at Mary Washington Hospital.He was a four letter athlete at Spotsylvania High School and played baseball at West Virginia University, where he graduated in 1966. He worked as a Realtor for a few years before opening his own office as a real estate broker and appraiser. He was a bird hunter who loved training and working his bird dogs. When he gave up hunting, he took up the game of golf which he practiced tirelessly. It was common to find him in front of mirror practicing his swing, always striving for perfection. He loved life but he especially loved his family, "his girls."Grant is survived by his wife, Patsy; his daughters, Victoria Jones (Patrick) and Holly Tarrh (Jamey); four grandchildren, Hunter and Erin Jones; Tyler and Joel Tarrh; a brother, Robert C. Mullen, Jr.(Martha); a sister, Brenda Cash (Buddy);uncle, James Self; and many nieces and nephews.He and Patsy just celebrated their golden anniversary on June 10.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 29 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.A service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 30 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Fredericksburg Food Bank, P.O.
