Kenneth R. “Kenny” or “Buckwheat” Wheat, 64, of Spotsylvania County passed away, Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Wheat served in the Navy for four years, for two years on board the USS America and two tours of duty in Vietnam. He worked as a deputy for three years in Bath County and three years in Spotsylvania County. He also worked for 25 years in security at Dominion Virginia Power. He also was an avid Cowboys Fan and loved to fish. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn J. Wheat; daughters Heather Gray (Scott) and Valerie Staats; grandchildren Isaac, Tori, Abby, Zac, Trent and Aidan; sisters Carol Rohme and Pam Horton
(Craig); sisters-in-law Jeannie Caldwell, Alice Sours (Larry); brother-in-law George Denning; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will include Larry Sours, George Denning, G.T. Holloway, Jim Yeatts, Kevin Pitts and Craig Horton.

    Prayers for Carolyn & family….always enjoyed Kenny’s outdoor picnics where he was the chef! He loved his “Cowboys”!!!! Have fun in “Heaven”….& keep rooting for those cowboys!!!
