Lisa Henderson Golden

Born on 06/12/1967

Departed on 11/08/2012

Resided in Fredericksburg, Virginia

On November 8, 2012 Lisa Henderson Golden, just 45 years old, passed away. She has been on the minds of many for the past few months. They have kept a quiet watch. While it would be easy to let sadness overwhelm the moment, celebrating her life seems a better course to take and that is what Lisa would want.

Lisa was a beautiful woman who turned heads when she entered a room but it was her personality that was the magnet. People wanted to be around her because she was gregarious, friendly and very funny, most often poking fun at herself. Her mother Lucille, commented that she had never met a person who had such a wonderful life.

Lisa was a local girl who grew up in Stafford. The center of her world was her daughter Rachel Henderson. Rachel is a lovely woman who resembles her mother and is out going, caring and was devoted to her mother. Her love for her community led her to be a supporter of the SPCA. Also, she played an integral role in developing the Annual Rappahannock Regional Duck Race.

Lisa found a professional career at Silver Companies as the Executive Vice President of the Commercial Brokerage. She was always an inspiration and found time to help others with their projects.
Lisa’s soul mate was her husband Chris Golden. Friends for 18 years, inseparable couple for six and husband and wife for one. He was her rock and her partner in adventure. Emerson, her doting step daughter, was never far from her side.
Her loving parents are David and Lucille Henderson and her wonderful brothers are David Jr. and Gregory. David is married to CJ and Gregory to Kristen. Nieces and nephews are Lauren, David, Brian, Aidan, Camdan. Bradan, Dylan and Piper. Lisa’s maternal grandparents were Simon and Ophelia Mastin and paternal grandparents were Watson and Effie Henderson.

Lisa was very dear to Chris’ family- Fran Golden, mother-in-law and Lisa’s gentle Florence Nightingale, sister-in-law Jenny Mayo and her husband Mike and brother-in-law Doug Golden. Lisa was a loving step mother to Sterling Schoonover’s daughters Whitney, Morgan and Tyler.

Over the years Lisa had many girlfriends but perhaps the closest was a small band called the Stealths- Becki Friend, Pat Breme, Barbara Bartz, Catherine Jennings and Gayle Elliott. They spent time with Lisa laughing and remembering the silly things that girlfriends do.

It is unconceivable to ponder life without Lisa but she gave her family and friends a lasting memory of a courageous woman who even in great physical discomfort was elegant, caring and still making jokes.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Sunday, November 11 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

A service will be held at Noon Monday, November 12 at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Lisa, you are a friend. You are beautiful inside and out. You fill everyone’s life with joy. And now you are gone. Now you are missed but no less loved. Now the joy you gave has turned to sadness. That sadness will eventually turn back to joy just for having known you. You are loved! Chris, brother, you are still here. We are still here with you! And we are still here for you! You too are loved.

There are so many important things about Lisa. She was the youngest cousin among the five of us. She welcomed us into her home for family gatherings. She was glamous and beautiful. She was kind and caring. She was courageous. She had her Dad’s spirit and charisma. She found her true love. But the most important thing about Lisa is that she was my youngest cousin. I will never forget her or the imprint she made on this family.
