William George “Bill” Eschmann II, 85, of Fredericksburg went to his Creator on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Bill was born on December 8, 1931 in Morristown, NJ, son of the late William George Eschmann and Mable Broomall Eschmann.
A graduate of the University of Maryland, Bill was retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a Mechanical Engineer, where he was in charge of building seventeen Bulk Mail Centers across the United States; after retirement Bill was an investment advisor with Primerica; sat for sixteen years with the King George Planning Commission; was active in the Farm Bureau; was a member of Fredericksburg Christian School Grandparents Association; and was an active member of Grace Church of Fredericksburg. Bill was an avid gardener/farmer for many years.
Bill trusted in and served his Lord, Jesus Christ, through teaching Sunday school, group Bible study, acting minister of a home church and engaging in overseas mission work.
Survivors include his wife and best friend of 60 years, Marcia Green Eschmann; son Mark Eschmann and his wife, Renate; daughter Lynda Harrell; three grandchildren Carson Eschmann, Matthew Harrell and Sarah Harrell; sister Eleanor Macqueen; and sister-in-law Margaretta Eschmann. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Theodore Walter Eschmann.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 23 at Grace Church of Fredericksburg 1141 Heatherstone Drive, Fredericksburg, Va. 22407. A reception will follow.
