Philip F. Lapan



Philip F. “Phil” Lapan, 68, of Spotsylvania passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a brief but valiant battle with cancer.

Phil was born and raised in Northampton, Mass. After completing college he joined the Army where he enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a Counter Intelligence Agent. After retiring as a MSG (E-8) Phil continued his career in the Intelligence community for an additional 26 years of service to his country. He was a long standing member of the American Legion. Phil was an avid photographer and enjoyed wandering the Battlefields and bi-ways of Virginia.

Phil is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Annemarie; sons Philip (Judy) and Danny; and his two dachshunds, Ben and Jake; three grandchildren Natalie, Evan, and Katrina; sister Elaine Briggs (Ray); two nephews Nick and Ben; and numerous cousins.

The family will receive friends on Monday Sept. 11 2017, from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 12 at Covenant Funeral Service chapel. Burial will follow at noon at Quantico National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association and the Fredericksburg SPCA.
