Lois Ann Hollander passed away at the age of 88 on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg.
Lois was born on February 6, 1930 in the town of Springvale, Wisconsin. Following graduation from Rosendale High School in 1948, she worked in a doctor’s office. In 1949, Lois married Lowell “Bud” Knapp, and for 12 years operated the Stop and Go Inn in Rosendale, Wisconsin. She later worked as a school secretary and bank teller in Rosendale. In October, 1964, Lois married Lester Hollander. They lived in Illinois, Washington and California; where they held positions with Del Monte Corporation. While in California, she also volunteered for several years at the nearby hospital.
Throughout her life, Lois was passionate about reading and walking. It was not unusual for her to devour 10 books from the library in two weeks and to walk four miles a day.
Lois moved from California to Fredericksburg in 2007 to be near her family, whom she loved dearly. She is survived by one son, Jeffrey Knapp (Barbara); two grandchildren, Shannon Sexton and Robert Knapp (Melinda); and five great-grandchildren, Katrina, Andrew, Dana, Ashleigh and Carleigh. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Irene Wagner; her sister, Audrey Nimmer, and her husbands: Lowell “Bud” Knapp and Lester Hollander.
Lois is loved, and will be missed by many. Her life will be celebrated at a private memorial gathering in Fredericksburg, and burial will be in Wisconsin at a future date.

I’m so sorry for your recent loss. My deepest condolences to your family. Death of a loved one is always hard to endure, but you don’t have to go through it alone. You can always find comfort in our God of tender mercy Jehovah, as found at 2 Corinthians 1:3,4.
