Fay J. Dunmire

Fay J. Dunmire, 82, of Spotsylvania County passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 surrounded by her family.

Fay was born on October 4, 1941 in Altoona, Pennsylvania and graduated from Altoona High School in 1959. She married her husband on September 15, 1961 and moved to Virginia in January of 1964. Fay was a loving, caring, compassionate, and dedicated wife and mother who enjoyed time with all of her family. She developed friendships with almost everyone she met and many of those friendships lasted a lifetime. Fay worked as a school bus driver and in the county transportation office for 36 years. She was a member of the Regester Chapel United Methodist Church for 47 years. She played piano there for 11 years and was co Youth Group Leader for 13 years. She was an active participant in TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) for 29 years and was an Area Captain for most of that time. Fay would also keep busy by doing various crafts at home. Traveling and cruising were her favorite means of vacationing.

Survivors include her husband, Howard Dunmire; children Wanda, Kirk, and Duane; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive family and friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2024 at Regester Chapel United Methodist Church, 106 Regester Chapel Rd. Stafford, VA 22554. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
