Donna Cecilia Brosmer

Donna Cecilia Brosmer lived life full of love, kindness, charity, and joy. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 4, 2017, at the age of 62 at her home in Spotsylvania, Virginia, surrounded by family. Born July 5, 1955, in Pensacola, FL, she was the daughter of the late Sally Neal (Shadrick) and Ural Wescott Shadrick. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Ron; their three sons and three grandchildren, Daniel Cosby and his wife, Kati, and their son, Samuel, Michael Brosmer and his son, Thomas, and daughter Zinnia; and Ryan Brosmer and his wife, Tyler; as well as six brothers and sisters; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life Donna fought for everything good and just, believing that the most important thing in life was to be compassionate and care for one another. While family always came first, anyone in need was treated as family. She strived to instill this sense of virtue in her children, her grandchildren, and her community at large. She could be a force to be reckoned with when somebody she cared for was wronged. And she was a source of great comfort to anyone who needed it. She was the most caring mother that anyone could ask for, a more loving wife than one could hope for, and the best kind of human being, that which we should all strive more to be.

At this time the family would like to especially thank the congregation at Fredericksburg Baptist Church and Pastor Larry Haun, as well as Dr. Sudeep Menachery, Linda Hazelgren, and the staff at Hematology Oncology Associates of Fredericksburg. And thank you to all of the friends, family, and community who have provided love and support during the good and the hard times.

The family will receive friends at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 14 at Fredericksburg Baptist Church. A celebration of her life will follow at noon at the church. At the request of the family, casual dress for the service is fine.

Donna strongly requested that in lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor her memory please make donations to the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation ( or Fredericksburg Baptist Church Thursday Night Meal program .
