Maryanne R. Kirtley



Maryanne Rowan Kirtley, 61, of Aquia Harbour passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Mary Washington Hospital.

Maryanne was born April 24, 1957 in Wilmington, DE to Anna Pauline Helbing Rowan and Kenneth Rowan.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Kirtley; daughters Anna Christine Dietzel (Ray) and Lauren Michelle Kirtley; and beloved grandson, Ethan Dietzel; sisters Julie Lewis and Sharon Martin; brother Kenneth Rowan; and her loving pet, Molly.

Maryanne was known affectionately as “Mayor”. Her participation and loyalty to her community was unmatched. She was our community defender and loved it with all of her heart. The Fourth of July was her favorite community event. Maryanne was patriotic to a fault and proudly displayed the flag, loved the Bald Eagle and many other things about our country. She was an avid Pittsburg Steeler fan and race car driver at Old Dominion Speedway. Among other things, she was a U.S. Army veteran, owner of her own sign company, a boater and water skier. Her love of people led her to a hospitality career at The Clubhouse in Aquia Harbour for many years of service to the residents. Maryanne was a great organizer and through it all she managed to collect more friends than most could ever dream about. Once they met her, they were her friend for life.

For many years she was active in fund raising for Children’s Charity Network, was a current and active member of the Aquia Harbour Evening Lions Club, volunteer for Aquia Harbour Police and a member St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Remember her with a smile, a happy memory and most of all her loving heart.

The family will receive family and friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 13 at Covenant Funeral Service Stafford. A service will follow at 8 p.m. Interment will be private. A Celebration of Life reception A Celebration of Life reception be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 15 at Aquia Harbour Country Club.
