John E. Lollis



John Emmanuel Lollis, 90, of Spotsylvania County passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at his home. He was born in 1928 in New York City, N.Y. to Greek immigrants. He proudly served in the United States Coast Guard, worked for the Federal Department of Agriculture at Plum Island, N.Y., Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) Elmira, N.Y., Lollis TV and Satellite and established a prosperous grape vineyard in Burdett, N.Y.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, NRA, Grape Growers Association of New York, Cooperative Extension of Schyler County, N.Y., and Myrtle-Jefferson Masonic Lodge.
John had a passion for living and valued relationships, hard work and learning. His many interests included tinkering with clocks, avid radio ham operator, hunting and fishing, dancing and vacationing. He had a passion for reading, especially Greek literature. He traveled to Greece with his family to connect with his Greek heritage. In retirement he took to painting and favored wildlife and Christmas scenes. Most of all John loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 69 years, Georgia Lollis; children John Lollis (Linda), Marianthi Lynn (John), and Nickolas Lollis; grandchildren Marissa Bornholdt, Lisa Funari (John), Emmanuel "Manny" Lollis, Jake Lollis; and great-children Mason and Audrey.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12 at Covenant Funeral Services, Fredericksburg.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 13 at Nativity of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church, Fredericksburg, 12326 Spotswood Furnace Lane. A private interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery.
