Clarence A. Bowling



Clarence Alvis Bowling passed away on November 5, 2018 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on June 24, 1940 in Patrick County, VA. Mr. Bowling moved to Stafford County in 1950. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvis and Garnet Bowling.

Mr. Bowling graduated from American University in 1962. Following years of employment at Derieux, Baker, Thompson and Whitt, he started the CPA firm Bowling, Franklin and Company in 1988. Mr. Bowling served his clients with the highest integrity and professional standards as Managing Partner until 2005, five years prior to his retirement in 2010. He volunteered for the local Rotary Club as its treasurer for over a decade; and was recognized by the Club as Member of the Year.

While he had many interests, including regular golf trips and weekly poker games with friends, Mr. Bowling’s greatest joy was any time he shared with his family.

Mr. Bowling was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Karen; brother Ronnie Bowling and sister Karen Barth; sons Charles A. (Chuck) Bowling, Scott D. Bowling, Chance T. Bowling, Joseph B (Brett) Estes; grandson, Dallas C. Bowling; daughters-in-law, Brenda Bowling and Betty Estes and brother-in-law Erik Barth.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, November 10 at Covenant Funeral Service, Stafford. The family will receive friends an hour prior at the funeral home.
