Obituary

Charlotte Rose Forde Mims was born in Milton, Mass. to John T. Forde and Katherine (Woods) Forde on November 25, 1935. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2018.

Charlotte is survived by her husband of 58 years, Roderick D. Mims; three adult children, Lauralee Scott (Glenn) of Franktown, Col., Jesslyn Booth (David) of Danville, Calif., and Roderick Jr. (Lisa), of Flemington, N.J.; seven grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren.
Charlotte graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Charlotte taught elementary school at Otis Air Force Base on Cape Cod. She had a passion for history and a great love for this country and shared those passions enthusiastically with her students.

Charlotte was always a civic leader, taking part in church activities, PTA president, Girl Scout leader, and her children’s sporting activities. Everyone who knew Charlotte knew her as a best friend. She and her family spent time living in Asia and she enjoyed traveling and experiencing other parts of the world.

Charlotte and Rod experienced a wonderful retirement in at Fawn Lake, Spotsylvania, Virginia where Charlotte enjoyed socializing with friends, was involved with a bowling league, Garden Club, Bunko, Nifty after 50 Group and enjoyed the art of painting. She always looked forward to time spent with bible study, church friends, Reverend Fisher and attending services at The Presbyterian Church in Fredericksburg.

A funeral service, in memory of Charlotte, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 20 at The Presbyterian Church of Fredericksburg, 810 Princess Anne Street, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22401 with Pastor Allen Fisher officiating. A reception in the church hall will follow the service.
